Perpignan was a last minute addition to our itinerary, or rather it was a substitution. Our original plan was to go from Carcassonne to Girona but we decided not to go to Girona and stop here instead to break our journey to Barcelona. In a way, I'm glad we did this otherwise we would have missed one of the highlights of our trip, the Chateau de Queribus. Unfortunately we didn't really enjoy Perpignan all that much, maybe it was because we arrived on the weekend and most places were closed. As we always do once we arrive in a new place, we dropped off our luggage and took a walk around town. Oh man, I have never seen so much dog poo on the ground in any place. We had to keep sidestepping poop and I was constantly calling out to the kids to watch where they were going! It was very unpleasant, so bad that these monkeys have renamed the place, Poopignan!
Boys stopped for a haircut at this place a few doors down from our hotel. Not such a good idea. Don't think the two hairdressers have cut Asian hair before. Ryan's cut didn't turn out too badly but Shad's was terrible. He had to wear a cap for the next week or so!
The Palais des Rois de Majorque (Palace of the Kings of Mallorca)
A magnificent display of Spanish architecture
We didn't do much sightseeing here, just a quick visit to the Palace was it. This was mostly a quick rest stop to break up the long drive.
At least the food here was pretty good. Small but extremely sweet mussels.
This foie gras was good!
