minimunchkin: Discoveries

It's been a long time since Ryan and Mia have been around other children. They were very excited to start our Galapagos trip partly because we would be travelling with some friends. Galapagos really is the ideal playground... wide open spaces, cool weather, extremely safe surroundings and animals everywhere you look!

Day 4...after a 50 minute boat ride we reached Santa Fe Island for more snorkelling. Throughout our time in the Galapagos, we've had some pretty bumpy boat rides. Mia and I were even thrown off our seats once! But incredibly none of us have gotten seasick (Oh actually Shad did, once, on their dive trip. The sea was extremely rough where they went). Also the boats that we've been on have been far from luxurious, but all four kids have taken it in their stride with no complaints, and created their own fun on those long boat rides.

The water was so cold that Mia could only stay in for around 15 minutes and she had to get out. We've never snorkelled in such freezing water before and it was quite a challenge. Our boat captain whipped up a tangy fish ceviche with plaintain crackers for lunch which hit just the right spot and after lunch we moved on to our next spot, Hidden Beach. No snorkelling this time, just a stroll along the beach in search of more wildlife.
