Our villa was a quick 10 minutes drive to Siena so we made our way there in the evening for dinner a couple of times. Kids loved hanging out at Piazza del Campo, Mia especially enjoyed lying in the square people watching.

We just missed the Palio race by a week. On the last night we were there for dinner, the stands were being put up in preparation for the race. A little disappointed that we missed it, it would have been quite incredible to see all those horses racing around the square.

The Torre del Mangia in the background. This used to be the tallest secular building in Medieval Italy, built to be the same height as the Cathedral to reflect the equal power of the church and the state.

Dinner... squid ink seafood pasta, an interesting strawberry and octopus salad and what else but salami pizza chosen by you know who!
The Duomo di Sienna was beautiful at night but my favourite is still the Duomo di Orvieto.
