Antibes

On to France we go. We drove from Turin down south and along the coast to Antibes realising only that we'd crossed the border when the road signs turned to French. We were expecting a quiet little beachside town, which is the main reason we had chosen to stay here instead of Nice but we were mistaken. The place was packed with English, Italian and French tourists.

The minute we stepped into town, we were greeted by this carousel and of course someone just "had" to have a ride!

Once again the location of our airbnb was great. We were right in the middle of the old city, walking distance to all the places of interest. Only downside was that the apartment wasn't as well kept as the other ones we'd stayed at previously. Still, we were happy to be close to all the action.

Our little airbnb on the second floor of an old building

Directly below our apartment at dinner time... We had a delicious meal at the little place on the left one night.

Our first French meal. Ryan's and my choice, duck l'orange

The next morning, Mia and I took a morning walk through town while the boys stayed in to watch the Hawks match.

Stopping for a quick mango slushy, someone's favourite!

Daily farmer's market. Vegetables and fruits as fresh as those in the Italian markets but so much more cheeses and breads here.

Later in the afternoon, we visited the Picasso museum and enjoyed some beach time.

Gorgeous view from the top of Museo Picasso

Quite impressive how much this little girl retained from what she learned in Art in Foundation and Grade 1. She could tell us about the patterns and colours that Picasso used.

Lovely sandy beach but the water was freezing.

We spent two nights here and that was probably not enough time for us to really get a feel of the place but we were glad to move on. It just felt too touristy but I'm sure it is a very lovely place to stay when it isn't so crowded.
