Machu Picchu

No words can describe the feeling of seeing Machu Picchu for the first time. We stood in awe and felt incredible admiration for the people who built this amazing city thousands of years ago. We spent two days exploring the nooks and crannies in the city, hiking up the two mountains behind it, walking to  the Sun Gate, just soaking in the beauty of the place.

Aguas Calientes

The day has finally arrived, today we will explore Machu Picchu, the lost city of the Incas!

From Ollaytambo station, it took an hour and forty five minutes to get to Aguas Calientes by train.

The Peru Rail runs every half an hour throughout the day.

Plenty of time to do her "work".

Very important document 😅

Snacks and drinks were served onboard.

And gorgeous views along the way.

The town centre was full of hotels, rest houses, restaurants, bars, souvenir shops, all here to cater to the thousands of tourists who come everyday.

We stayed at the El Mapi hotel right in the middle of town. A great hotel, good service, good food and very comfortable rooms.

That was our hotel on the right.

From Aguas Calientes it was another half an hour bus ride to get to Mach Picchu.

This was the bus queue at 5:30am. The front of the line was around 500m in front. Everyone was racing up to catch the sunrise.
