Woodland Sports Day

We participated in our first tiny tots Sports Day organised by Ryan's preschool on 25 March. It was a pretty big event for the school, held at the Hong Kong Football Club in Happy Valley. We figured that it was probably a wise move not to bring Mia with us since we were going to be in the scorching sun all morning so we left Mum to babysit her at my cousin's house. It was quite a juggling act that morning. We woke up bright and early to get ready then while Shad took Ryan to the venue, I fed Mia at home then jumped into a cab to drop Mum and Mia off at Wan Wah's house then caught another cab to the Football Club. I got there just in time to watch Ryan complete the first rotation of games.

The theme for this year was Chinese Zodiac Animals so the teachers creatd games which incorporated all the animals from the zodiac calendar. I arrived at the field expecting to see little kids competing in the different running, passing the ball events much like what we did during our sports days in primary school in Malaysia. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was more of a "games" day rather than a "sports" day as such. Each child participated in all the activities, and there were no "winners", instead it was all about having fun. Of course it was a different story when it came to the Daddies and Mummies Race! Ryan thoroughly enjoyed himself, so did Shad and I. And to top it off, we finished our day with a yummy homemade "nasi lemak" lunch thanks to my cousin!

Start of the day... getting organised...

Rotation one... loosening up for a game of soccer

Agile as a monkey??

I have no idea which animal this game is supposed to represent!

Dragon race

Doggie dress-up

Make way... doggy coming through

Ox drawn cart

Ride the horsey

Strong like a boar

In the end we needed Mama's help!

Huhh... that was hard work!

Mamas' Race... unfortunately Ryan's Mama only came second in the prelims :(

Daddies' Race... Ryan's Daddy got into the final but unfortunately came second due to sabotage (the pants were positioned badly!!)... har har!

Our Champ!
